Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Dean Phillips (MN-03) offered the following statement after attending a bipartisan meeting between fellow members of the House Problem Solvers Caucus and President Trump and his leadership team in the Situation Room of The White House today:

“Today I joined a dozen of my colleagues from both sides of the aisle for a meeting with President Trump regarding the ongoing government shutdown. The conversation was collegial, and the message delivered by both Republicans and Democrats was clear: it is time to end this shutdown. Only then can we begin the important work of securing our borders and ports and reforming our broken immigration system. I ran on a promise to inspire conversations such as this, and I am hopeful we can continue to work together – Republicans and Democrats alike -- to end an unnecessary and damaging shutdown that is causing real hardship for millions of Americans and making our country less safe.”
