Today, Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) issued the following statement on President Trump signing a one year extension of Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) status for Liberians.

“This news is of great relief to us and the Liberian communities we proudly represent. We are grateful to the White House for signing this extension, which will give Congress time to consider a legislative solution. This week, we introduced the Protect Our Liberian Community Act, the only bipartisan bill that will give Liberians on DED a reprieve. We will use the time granted by this extension to build support for our bill and work hard to get it signed into law. We encourage our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to join us.”
