The Common Ground Committee, a non-profit, non-partisan organization focused on healing incivility and polarization, ranks Rep. Phillips first on its Common Ground Scorecard (CGS). The Common Ground Committee works for towards the goal of “more progress, less division”, and with that goal in mind, developed the CGS to identify politicians who seek common ground (or not), and to celebrate officials who exhibit these attributes. The president, vice president, governors, senators, and members of Congress are scored. Points may be earned across the following categories: Official Performance, Personal Actions, Communication, Commitments, and Outstanding Common Grounder.
